Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis: A Territory of Innovation and Opportunities for Cultural and Creative Industries
The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis is asserting itself as a major player in the field of Cultural and Creative Industries. With cutting-edge training and innovative initiatives, it actively contributes to the development of this rapidly expanding sector.
In 2023, the city of Nice recorded a record year in terms of filming, with a spectacular increase of 82% compared to the previous year. Indeed, the city hosted nearly 600 days of filming on public land, encompassing a variety of productions such as 11 feature films, 5 television series, 25 documentaries, and much more.
This excitement was also felt at Les Studios de la Victorine, which hosted 160 days of filming in 2023.
Contributing not only to cultural richness but also to the local economy, this industry generated jobs and stimulated economic activity, reinforcing Nice’s attractiveness as a major center for film and audiovisual production.
In addition to offering magnificent settings for audiovisual productions, Nice Côte d’Azur embodies a complete ecosystem for CCIs, combining creation, training, and innovation.
es Studios de la Victorine, Future Center of Excellence
This modernization, part of the CNC’s “La Grande Fabrique de l’Image,” aims to strengthen Nice’s position as a film and visual effects capital, with the addition of a new 2,000 m² plateau, an entrepreneurial hub, and a training center.
This development aims to stimulate the local ecosystem, meet the growing needs for high-quality production, and encourage the emergence of local talent, all while adopting an eco-responsible approach, implementing eco-production practices and carbon-neutral equipment.
Grande Fabrique de l’Image
In 2023, Les Studios de la Victorine and ISART Digital school in Nice were winners of “La Grande Fabrique de l’Image,” a flagship initiative of the France 2030 plan.
This program aims to modernize the French production infrastructure to meet the increasing demand for productions and filming, driven by new financing obligations for audio-visual creation by foreign platforms.
This initiative is part of the national ambition to position France as the European leader in the film and audio-visual industries, fostering the emergence of a dynamic ecosystem around studios, training, and innovative image creation technologies.
The renovation project for Les Studios de la Victorine and support for ISART Digital align with these objectives, reinforcing the leading role of Nice Côte d’Azur in the French film and audiovisual industry and affirming its appeal for international productions.
Université Côte d’Azur: Innovation and Excellence in Training for Cultural and Creative Industries
In 2022, the introduction of the Arts et Métiers de l’Image degree marked a turning point, offering a Bac+3 program focused on audiovisual professions and the production of innovative images, including augmented reality and 360°.
This offering is complemented by the unique DU in France, centered on directing and mastering the financial management of audio-visual production. Additionally, obtaining the “Campus des Métiers et des Qualifications des Industries Culturelles et Créatives” label, in collaboration with the University of Avignon, underscores the commitment of these institutions to connect training and innovate according to sectoral requirements.
The partnership with EIT Culture and Creativity and the creation of the MIN4CI Foundation, aiming to establish a sustainable ecosystem for cultural and creative industries in Europe, illustrates Université Côte d’Azur’s proactive and integrated approach to supporting and stimulating the sector through education and innovation.
