The first phase of the Cagnes-sur-Mer Multimodal Exchange Hub (PEM) was successfully concluded with the inauguration of the esplanade and bus station on June 8, 2023. This event marks a significant milestone in the realization of this ambitious project, which was launched in 2019, and whose park-and-ride facility was inaugurated in September 2022.
The esplanade, a key area of this Multimodal Exchange Hub (PEM), covers an area of 2000 m2 and is designed as a focal point for various modes of transportation to converge. Furthermore, it serves as a relaxation area with the planting of over 100 trees and 1,600 shrubs, transforming this space into a pleasant living area for residents and visitors alike.
The bus station, equipped with seven platforms, serves as a major hub for mobility, accommodating eight bus lines, including three urban lines, four interurban lines, and one regional line.
The park-and-ride facility, open to the public since August 2022, offers 280 parking spaces across nine levels, including two underground levels. It is also equipped with 27 electric vehicle charging stations.
During his speech, the President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, Christian Estrosi, emphasized the importance of this infrastructure in anticipation of the arrival of the L4 tramway, with the nearest station being just a 240m walk away.
The Cagnes-sur-Mer Multimodal Exchange Hub is a concrete example of reconciling the use of different modes of transportation and adopting a balanced approach to mobility. These new infrastructures are not only an asset for local mobility but also for the quality of life of residents and the respect for the environment.
