  • With 6000 m² spread over three buildings, it will host UNOC-3 in June 2025, followed by cultural and sports events.

  • The site, designed to last at least until the 2030 Winter Olympics, will serve as the main press center for the event.

Pavillon de la Mer: A strategic project for Nice and the United Nations Ocean Conference

In an article published on February 14, Nice 24 reported on the construction site visit of the Pavillon de la Mer, held on the same day, attended by Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice and President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, and Renaud Muselier, President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region and President of Régions de France.

A Construction Site Meeting All Deadlines

The project began with the demolition of the former parking lot on September 1, 2024, followed by the start of construction on January 6, 2025. Within just a few weeks, the structures of the three buildings have taken shape along Quai Infernet and the Jetée of the Port of Nice. The main building, featuring a hall inspired by the United Nations, is set for completion by March 6—a key milestone ahead of the final delivery scheduled for late April.

A Central Site for UNOC-3

The Pavillon de la Mer, with its 6000 m² surface, will become the focal point of UNOC-3, scheduled from June 9 to 13. The convention center will be handed over to the State at the end of the construction under the supervision of the UN and in co-governance with Costa Rica, the other organizing country. During the visit, the official Costa Rican delegation, led by Jorge Rodriguez Vives, Minister of Culture and Youth, and Her Excellency Ana Elena Pinto Lizaro, Ambassador of Costa Rica to France, observed the project’s progress alongside French officials.

A Long-term Facility serving the Territory

Beyond UNOC-3, the Pavillon de la Mer will host cultural, sports, and international congress events. Christian Estrosi emphasized that this facility, connected to transportation networks and designed to meet local needs, will remain active at least until the 2030 Winter Olympics, where it will serve as the main international press center.
