Hotel Ambassador Nice: Hocotel completes the renovation of a 4-star asset

A revalued asset in the heart of Nice

The address at 8 Avenue de Suède is once again welcoming guests. Owned by Hocotel since 2016, the Hotel Ambassador has reopened after a full renovation that involved several years of planning and construction. The stated goal: to reposition the establishment in the urban 4-star segment, while preserving the Belle Époque architectural identity of the building.

With 35 redesigned rooms and revamped communal areas — including a conservatory that can be used for receptions or MICE events — the hotel targets both business and leisure travellers seeking a central location. Hocotel is continuing its strategy of enhancing assets within Nice’s primary tourist and commercial perimeter.

A local anchoring strategy with integrated sustainability

Hocotel operates several hotel properties in central Nice, including Hotel Univers and Hotel de Suède, the latter scheduled for renovation and 4-star conversion by 2027.

The group also runs several restaurants (Maison Margaux, SOHO, La Lorraine, Café de Turin). Other assets are currently undergoing renovation, including Hotel Magenta in 2025 and Café de Turin in 2026.

The relaunch of the Ambassador integrates operational decisions aligned with the hospitality sector’s sustainability expectations. The hotel offers on-request linen services, uses locally branded toiletries (L’Occitane), and works with a selection of local food suppliers.

Strengthened positioning within Nice’s hotel offering

The reopening of the Ambassador is part of a broader trend of hotel renewal in Nice, especially in the 4- and 5-star segment. In recent years, several high-profile properties have entered or re-entered the market following major renovations: Anantara Plaza Nice Hotel, Hôtel du Couvent, DoubleTree by Hilton, Mama Shelter, Hôtel Palais Ségurane, among others.

Nice currently hosts over 200 hotels, totalling approximately 12,000 rooms. Since 2020, more than 3,000 new rooms have been added, particularly around Grand Arénas and the city centre. Today, over 60% of hotels in Nice fall within the 4- and 5-star categories, reflecting an ongoing move upmarket, supported by steady year-round visitation and a strategic focus on business tourism and international events (UNOC 2025, Winter Olympics 2030).
