Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis Hotel Development Strategy

As part of its high-end hotel offering development, with recent openings such as Anantara Plaza, Crowne Plaza, Sheraton, Hôtel Palais Ségurane, Maison Albar Le Victoria, Hôtel PAM, and Hôtel Mama Shelter Nice, the city of Nice welcomes a new luxury establishment with the Hotel du Couvent.

In 2025, Nice will have 3000 additional hotel rooms compared to 2020, 60% of which will be 4 and 5 stars. This hotel excellence was recently recognized with the awarding of a Michelin Key to seven hotels in the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis.

These initiatives aim to meet the growing demand for quality, diverse, and adapted accommodations to the new expectations of travelers.

A former convent rehabilitated in the heart of the old town

The former Visitation Sainte-Claire convent, located in the old town of Nice, is experiencing a rebirth under the direction of Valéry Grégo, founder of the Perseus group. This 17th-century building has been restored for 10 years to preserve the site’s history and become the Hotel du Couvent, a new five-star establishment on the Côte d’Azur.

This new hotel highlights the past by offering its guests a contemporary luxury experience with 88 rooms, three restaurants, Roman baths, two outdoor swimming pools, a gym, a library, a wine cellar, a bakery, an herbalist, and gardens spanning nearly one hectare.

The Hotel du Couvent also aims to be a living space for the people of Nice and visitors, with a local products market enlivening the Place des Orangers every Saturday morning. The convent’s gardens, cultivated in terraces, will offer a space for relaxation and reconnection with nature
