On April 22 and 23, 2025, Nice became a European focal point for exploring the links between innovation, culture and sustainability. The EIT Culture & Creativity Innovation Forum was held at the Théâtre des Franciscains and on the Trotabas Campus, around the theme “Creativity meets circularity”.
This edition was co-organized with the Mediterranean Innovative Narratives for Cultural and Creative Industries Foundation (MIN4CI) created by Université Côte d’Azur, Aix-Marseille Université, Avignon Université and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, to join forces in the field of cultural and creative activities.
The forum also benefited from the support of the City of Nice, a key player in the structuring of cultural industries on a local and European scale.
Five cultural sectors explored
The program included panels, workshops and working groups in five key areas:
- mode,
- architecture,
- audiovisual,
- video game,
- cultural heritage.
Speakers included architect Winy Maes and MEP Christian Elher. Three main questions structured the discussions:
🔄 Is circularity really at the heart of innovation?
📈 How can it transform value chains, markets and business models?
🤝 How can it produce a lasting societal impact that goes beyond economic logic?
Resilience Initiative: a program to support transitions
The forum also marked the official launch of the Resilience initiative, spearheaded by EIT Culture & Creativity. This initiative aimed to support the cultural and creative industries in their ability to adapt to ecological, social and digital transitions, by mobilizing concrete circular practices.
A dedicated session brought together representatives from European institutions, the EIT, the European Intellectual Property Office and the European Parliament.
CCIs in Nice: local structure and European roots
The city of Nice is building an ICC ecosystem that combines infrastructure (Studios de la Victorine), training (Université Côte d’Azur, ISART Digital), events (Printemps des Mômes) and international cooperation (Italy, Quebec).
The Mission Cinéma de la Ville de Nice – CineNice oversees the hosting of film shoots and supports the development of the audiovisual industry.
The organization of this Forum in Nice echoes this strategy of local structuring connected to European dynamics, where creation, circularity and innovation converge.
