Nice will host the final stage of the 2026 Tour de France Femmes. The race will take place on August 9, concluding a cross-border route. It will strengthen the territory’s visibility in the international sports calendar.
Nice Côte d’Azur is reinforcing its role as a platform for hosting events. Cycling, MMA, triathlon, and trail running are included in its 2026 sports agenda. The 2030 Winter Olympics will confirm this trajectory on the international stage.
The final route is structured around four ascents of the Col d’Èze. An additional segment via the Chemin du Vinaigrier increases the level of difficulty. This configuration opens the possibility of a still undecided general classification.
The 2026 Tour covers 1,175 km with an elevation gain of 18,795 m. It crosses three mountain ranges, twelve departments, and connects Switzerland to the Côte d’Azur. 154 riders from 22 teams will take part in this fifth edition.
Nice, Final Stage of the 2026 Tour de France Femmes
On August 9, 2026, the Nice Côte d’Azur territory will be the arrival point of the final stage of the Tour de France Femmes. The race, whose route was unveiled on October 23, will span nine days, from Lausanne to Nice, passing through the Jura, Massif Central, and the Alps. The final stage will link Nice to Nice on a local route of 99 km.
The route includes four ascents of the Col d’Èze, with a final addition via the Chemin du Vinaigrier and the Col des Quatre Chemins. This technical section aims to maintain competitive tension until the finish line, scheduled on the Promenade des Anglais. The Nice arrival thus becomes a lever for promoting the territory, at a time when major women’s competitions are enjoying growing audiences and increased visibility for host regions.
A Structuring Route for the Promotion of the Territories Crossed
The 2026 Tour de France Femmes combines three types of stages (flat, mountainous, hilly), an individual time trial, and several iconic finish locations. The route totals 1,175 km with 18,795 m of elevation gain — a double record since the creation of the event. From the 3rd stage onward, the race crosses twelve French departments in three regions, thereby mobilising a wide range of territorial and economic stakeholders.
154 riders from 22 teams will be on the starting line. Mont Ventoux, during the 7th stage, will be one of the highlights before the two-part final on the Côte d’Azur: Sisteron–Nice (stage 8), then Nice–Nice (stage 9). Organising the Tour requires advanced logistics, significant hosting capacity, and territorial coordination that places host cities within a framework of economic, media, and operational value creation.
Nice Côte d’Azur: Territorial Infrastructure Suited to Sporting Events
The Nice Côte d’Azur territory is engaged in a sustained dynamic of hosting national and international sports events. This strategy relies on sports and logistics infrastructure, multimodal accessibility, tailored hotel accommodation, and a natural environment conducive to a variety of sports.
In 2024, Nice had hosted the final stage of the Men’s Tour de France.
In January 2026, Nice will also host the opening event of the ARES Fighting Championship (MMA) season, with an event scheduled for January 9 at the Palais Nikaïa. The city was already part of the circuit in 2025. This ability to host multisport events contributes to the continuous animation of the event calendar.
Nice is also positioned for the 2030 Winter Olympics, as host city for the ice sports competitions. This prospect, combined with events such as IRONMAN®, Nice Côte d’Azur by UTMB®, or Paris–Nice, helps structure a comprehensive territorial offering — visible internationally and generating economic benefits.
