From May 20 to 22, 2025, Team Nice Côte d’Azur will be on a mission in Montréal. Axelle Xerri, Head of Project Development, will represent the region at C2 Montréal, an international event dedicated to creativity, innovation, and economic connections.
This mission is a continuation of the initiatives carried out with Québec’s ecosystems since 2024 and strengthens the positioning of the Nice region as a strategic player in the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) on an international scale.
A momentum built between Québec and Nice Côte d’Azur
For nearly two years, Nice Côte d’Azur has strengthened its economic ties with Canada, particularly with the Province of Québec. In October 2024, an initial mission to Québec led by Team Nice Côte d’Azur identified strong synergies in the fields of video games, immersive experiences, and audiovisual production. This momentum continued with key meetings in March 2025, including the Rencontres Excellence Québec in Paris, followed by the reception of a Canadian diplomatic delegation in Nice.
At HUB Montréal 2024, Axelle Xerri met with several leading companies and explored the model of Montréal’s Quartier des spectacles. These exchanges revealed concrete synergies between the two regions, particularly in the areas of training, co-production, and artistic innovation.
A structured CCI strategy across the territory
The mission is part of a broader regional development strategy led by the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, with contributions from Team Nice Côte d’Azur: building a competitive, attractive, and internationally connected CCI ecosystem. Several flagship projects are driving this momentum, including the €35 million renovation of the Victorine Studios, the establishment of ISART Digital, facilitation of filming by the City of Nice’s Cinema Office, and various support schemes for audiovisual production.
In 2024, Nice recorded a new milestone with 610 days of filming on public property, confirming its appeal to both French and international productions. The industry benefits from a comprehensive environment: technical infrastructure, specialized training, filming coordination, and strong ties with institutional partners.
Promoting the Nice Côte d’Azur region as a European creative hub
During the C2 Montréal event, Axelle Xerri will take part in business meetings with decision-makers from the film, gaming, digital creation, and immersive industries. The goal is to showcase the Nice ecosystem, identify collaboration opportunities, and prepare future co-production or establishment projects.
This mission also positions the region within a structured bilateral agenda set to deepen with Canada in 2025. It serves as a lever to attract talent, businesses, and investors from the creative sector.
A creative region with an international outlook
In collaboration with Université Côte d’Azur, specialized schools, studios, and economic stakeholders, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis is asserting its ambition: to become a leading European platform for cultural and digital creation. Participation in C2 Montréal reinforces this vision. It reflects a shared commitment to merging artistic creation, technological innovation, and economic development, with a focus on regional impact.
