After hosting a first structuring event in Nice last July, Team Nice Côte d’Azur organized a new LifeSciences Afterwork on September 25, this time in Monaco, to strengthen regional synergies in the healthcare and life sciences sector.
Led by Sana Bouyahia, Project Manager for Health & Sport, this initiative is part of the agency’s hands-on approach: creating lasting connections between health innovation stakeholders, whether newly established or long-standing in the region.
An Interconnected Health Ecosystem on the Côte d’Azur
In an informal yet focused format, the LifeSciences Afterwork brought together a representative panel of the Côte d’Azur’s HealthTech ecosystem: startups, researchers, biotech experts, investors, public operators, and support organizations.
Discussions addressed concrete topics such as digital health, applied artificial intelligence, personalized medicine, and the industrialization of health innovations.
By gathering these key players in Monaco, Team Nice Côte d’Azur reaffirms its ambition to enhance interterritorial synergies within the health sector—combining scientific excellence, industrial capabilities, and international appeal.
Thank You to the Participants
The agency warmly thanks the participants for the richness of the discussions and their active involvement in this collective momentum:
To continue the conversations initiated during the LifeSciences Afterworks, a WhatsApp group has been created. It allows health sector stakeholders on the Côte d’Azur to stay connected, share news, and receive updates about upcoming events.
Structuring the LifeSciences Sector on the Côte d’Azur
This Afterwork in Monaco is part of a broader strategy led by Team Nice Côte d’Azur to structure the regional LifeSciences sector. The agency acts as an operational facilitator between economic, scientific, and institutional players, by supporting:
- the establishment of new companies
- the visibility of innovative projects
- the creation of interterritorial bridges, particularly between Nice, Sophia Antipolis, and Monaco
This regional networking effort contributes to positioning the Côte d’Azur as a Mediterranean reference in health, clinical research, and technological innovation.
The dynamism of the health sector in Nice Côte d’Azur
The attractiveness of the Côte d’Azur territory in health is based on a structured, interconnected ecosystem combining cutting-edge hospital infrastructure, academic excellence, technological innovation, and entrepreneurial initiatives.
The Nice University Hospital, in partnership with Université Côte d’Azur, leads major projects such as the IHU RespirERA, dedicated to chronic respiratory diseases, reinforcing Nice’s strategic positioning in precision medicine.
This initiative stands alongside projects such as the Skin Institute (digital dermatology) and 3IA Côte d’Azur, a center of excellence in artificial intelligence applied to health (biomarkers, predictive medicine, digital twins).
Université Côte d’Azur plays a central role through programs such as Nucleate France UniCA, facilitating the transition from academic research to entrepreneurship in life sciences. Projects like Dimicare, a spin-off from INSERM, CNRS, and UniCA, illustrate this dynamic by developing new targeted antibiotics via the ARROW platform.
This scientific foundation fuels a pool of innovative companies such as Algenscribe (genomics), Roca Therapeutics (biotech), ExAdEx-Innov (cell therapies), and Klava Innovation (smart medical devices).
In June 2025, the Nice-based company Caranx Medical obtained FDA approval for artificial intelligence software in cardiac surgery, positioning the Côte d’Azur as a leading hub in digital health and medical robotics.
This development is supported by innovation infrastructures such as the Eurobiomed cluster and benefits from growing international visibility, strengthened by strategic partnerships and targeted public investments.
