A Year of Strong Recovery for Côte d’Azur Airports
In 2024, Côte d’Azur Airports (ACA) experienced robust activity, with air traffic exceeding pre-pandemic levels.
Nice Côte d’Azur Airport recorded 14.8 million passengers across all types of aviation, slightly surpassing 2019 figures.
Among the 122 destinations in 45 countries, long-haul routes reached record numbers, including five destinations to the United States, two to Canada, and six to the Gulf countries.
“Directly connecting the Côte d’Azur to major regional cities and expanding direct flights to international capitals is a responsible way to meet the travel needs of both local residents and visitors. This is the challenge of sustainable and essential air transport,” explains Franck Goldnadel, Chairman of the Management Board of Côte d’Azur Airports.
Infrastructure Modernization and Commitment
To meet growing demand, Nice Côte d’Azur Airport’s Terminal 2 is undergoing a major expansion program. By 2025, a new international boarding area will open, coinciding with the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC-3) in June 2025. Further extensions will follow, increasing the airport’s annual capacity to 18 million passengers by 2026.
At the same time, Côte d’Azur Airports have enhanced their customer experience efforts through a Customer Experience Charter and initiatives such as the World Passenger Day, which has been adopted by 15 other European airports.
Emission Reduction and Sustainable Management
In 2024, Côte d’Azur Airports made significant strides in sustainability. Electrification work at Nice Airport’s aircraft stands began, aiming to cut CO₂ emissions by 6,000 metric tons.
Similar initiatives were implemented at Cannes Mandelieu and Golfe de Saint-Tropez airports, including the use of alternative fuels (HVO) and 100% electric equipment.
Overall, directly controlled emissions at Côte d’Azur Airports have decreased by 93% since 2013.
Community Impact and Passenger Initiatives
The airports also reinforced their local impact through a reforestation program in partnership with the French National Forest Office (ONF), planting 4,800 trees in 2024, bringing the total to 23,852 trees since 2020.
On the social front, ACA renewed its partnership with Restos du Cœur, collecting nearly 75,000 items prohibited in cabin luggage in 2024, a 9% increase compared to 2023.
