- On December 13, an international cooperation framework agreement in the health sector was signed between CHU Nice, Université Côte d’Azur, Saint Joseph University, and Hôtel-Dieu de France in Beirut.
- This agreement focuses on academic exchanges, clinical training for Lebanese healthcare professionals, and joint projects in fundamental and clinical research.
- The collaboration aims to enhance human resources, foster innovation, and promote sustainable development within the partner institutions.
The signing ceremony at CHU Nice was attended by: Rodolphe Bourret, General Director of CHU Nice, Dr. Hervé Cael, Vice-President of the Supervisory Board of CHU Nice, Professor Jacques Levraut, President of the CHU Medical Commission, Professor Jeanick Brisswalter, President of Université Côte d’Azur, Professor Jean Dellamonica, Dean of the UFR Medicine in Nice
They hosted: Nassib Nasr, General Director of Hôtel-Dieu de France in Beirut, Professor Elie Nemer, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Saint Joseph University.

This visit resulted in the signing of a framework agreement for international cooperation in healthcare, in the presence of Professor Patrick Baqué, Head of the Visceral and Digestive Surgery Department at CHU Nice, and Dr. Laurent Hekayem, an emergency physician who regularly travels to Beirut to teach anatomy to students at Saint Joseph University.
During their visit, the Lebanese delegation toured the Faculty of Medicine with the Dean and met with teams from the Pharmacy Department, Medical Emergencies, and the department in charge of Social and Environmental Responsibility.
Several partnership themes were discussed during the day and will be further explored in the coming months:
- Continuing existing cooperation actions, particularly welcoming dozens of Saint Joseph University students for short observation internships each summer in emergency departments;
- Strengthening the human capacities of Lebanese healthcare professionals by welcoming them to the CHU de Nice for clinical training, such as for final-year medical interns. Experience sharing and technical support will also address pharmacy-related issues (medication quality and safety processes, multi-site pharmacy organization, cytotoxic drug preparation, etc.);
- Enhancing shared knowledge and skills in sustainable development in hospital settings;
- Joint development of fundamental and clinical research projects.
This visit and the signing of the framework agreement institutionalize and strengthen the significant ties already established between these institutions, which share the same language, common values, and ambitious academic and hospital objectives.
