A distinction for urban cleanliness strategy
The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis has once again been awarded the “5-Star Eco-Clean City” label by the Association of Urban Cleanliness Cities (AVPU). This recognition, the highest awarded by the association, acknowledges the efforts of the metropolis and its Nice Cleanliness Department in sustainably improving urban cleanliness.
Daily commitment and concrete actions
This label not only distinguishes the strategy implemented by the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis but also the means deployed to achieve this goal. These include improving equipment, communication actions, mediation, and awareness-raising measures, as well as coercive measures to combat uncivil behaviors. The distinction also highlights the daily work of all cleanliness agents.
Pierre-Paul Leonelli, Deputy Mayor of Nice in charge of Cleanliness, Collection, and Parks and Gardens, Vice-President of the Metropolis, Regional Councillor, stated: “I am delighted with the renewal of this label, which highlights the fight led by Christian Estrosi since 2008 to improve the living environment of residents. In Nice, we are doing everything possible to combat incivilities, protect the environment, and raise public awareness of more virtuous behaviors.”

The Association of Urban Cleanliness Cities (AVPU), created in 2010, brings together over 300 municipalities. Its members, agents, and elected officials actively participate in a collective reflection aimed at improving urban cleanliness. The renewal of the label for the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis testifies to the effectiveness and consistency of its actions in the field of cleanliness.
