BodyO, a web platform that improves healthcare thanks to sensors and data, sets up in Nice. Its founder and CEO, Patrice Coutard, explains his technology and why he decided to locate its R&D and Marketing in the health ecosystem of the Côte d’Azur.
Can you tell us about your business?
We aim at disrupting the current healthcare system by offering a preventive system that will allow our clients to become committed players in their own health and simplify the customer journey. Facing a market with increasing healthcare spending threatening some countries, this new customer journey could have a positive impact. 70% of healthcare spending are dedicated to diseases that could be avoided through prevention. Such diseases involve obesity, chronic heart illness, and type II diabetes.
Our new system is based on the 4P medicine:
- Personalized: Each patient is unique.
- Participatory: The user becomes a committed player in their own health.
- Predictive: Detecting any medical abnormality sooner thanks to our health pods.
- Preventive: Switching from treatment to prevention.
BodyO brings together patients and health professionals to help users achieve their health goals, keep control of their data and journey tracking. The users choose when, how and which information is shared with their doctors, nutritionists, coaches, etc. as well as whether BodyO can access it to suggest customized offers. In an ever more technological driven market, BodyO places people on top and shares a unique philosophy.
1- KNOWING YOURSELF (Hardware IOT AI)
Our health pods (AIPod) can deliver a non-invasive health diagnosis in less than 10 minutes with 19 analyzers and 4 sensors.
2-A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE (Softwaire AI)
The data is transferred in a 3-level secure platform: administration, professionals, and end users. Thanks to our algorithms, Artificial Intelligence and machine learning, the platform implements a premonition and diagnosis system which takes the patient’s history, activity, nutrition and sleep into account. This diagnosis is supported by the medical team and the designed customized programs.
3- MOBILIZING AND REWARDING (Blockchain)
If the user commits, makes efforts and progresses by following the customized lifestyle suggestions until reaching their goals, they will be rewarded with health tokens. Those tokens are based on the blockchain technology, which secures even more the health data. The rewards can be used in dedicated communities and business systems to benefit from discounts on healthcare and well-being products.

What are your projects and objectives for the coming year?
We want to focus on Research & Development and global Marketing in our Nice offices. The commercializing and assembling of our European health pods will also be done from the Côte d’Azur.
We would like to open around twenty positions in the short term and a hundred within 5 years. We would also like to work with local partners from the city, the Metropolis Nice Côte d’Azur and the Region SUD Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.
