The 2024 Tour de France, 111th edition, will mark a historic turning point in the history of this famous cycling race, as for the first time, it will not end in Paris.
Indeed, due to the preparations for the Paris Olympic Games, the race will start from Florence in Italy, and end on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice.
The final two stages of the 2024 Tour de France were unveiled on March 13th. The choice of the city of Nice had been announced on December 1st, 2022, by the Mayor of Nice and President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, Christian Estrosi, in the presence of Christian Prudhomme, the director of the Tour.
The final two stages of the 2024 edition were designed to offer a spectacular show.
Professional cyclists will have to face a difficult mountain stage from a departure in Nice, with several notable climbs such as the Col de Braus, the Col de Turini, and the Col de la Colmiane, before finishing at the top of the Col de la Couillole, on the day before arriving in Nice.
On July 21st, the last day of the race, will be marked by an individual time trial of 35 km between Monaco and Nice, which will offer a grand finale for this historic edition.
The choice of Nice to host this finish demonstrates the attractiveness of the city and its economic potential. The hosting of this event is expected to generate 8 euros in economic benefits for every euro invested, resulting in between 50 and 60 million euros of economic benefits for the entire region.
With thousands of spectators expected and broadcast in 190 countries, the Tour de France represents an exceptional opportunity for the city and its inhabitants.
