Université Côte d’Azur and the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm) signed, on Monday 20 October 2025, on the Valrose campus in Nice, a new joint agreement, in the presence of Didier Samuel, Chairman and CEO of Inserm, and Jeanick Brisswalter, President of Université Côte d’Azur. This signing took place as part of a visit by an Inserm delegation to the Côte d’Azur site.
This agreement renews and deepens the scientific cooperation established over several years between the two institutions. It aims to promote the joint development of mixed research units, to pool human and technical resources and to strengthen the links between fundamental, clinical and public health research.
It is also aligned with the major shared priorities of the two institutions: open science, scientific integrity, professional equality, sustainable development and international outreach.
“The signing of this agreement perfectly symbolises our shared determination to affirm the scientific excellence of the Côte d’Azur and to continue developing research that is innovative, collaborative and open to the major challenges of tomorrow. By joining forces with Inserm, we place health, biology and the training of our students at the heart of a shared, ambitious and inclusive project, at both local and international levels.”
Jeanick Brisswalter, President of Université Côte d’Azur
“The signing of this agreement with Université Côte d’Azur reflects our joint commitment to open, collaborative and excellent health research. By consolidating our mixed units and developing new scientific synergies, we are offering researchers an environment that is conducive to innovation. This partnership not only strengthens the scientific influence of the region, but also helps to address tomorrow’s major health challenges, while promoting equality, integrity and openness in science.”
Didier Samuel, Chairman and CEO of Inserm
This new agreement consolidates a long-standing partnership, marked by the creation and development of numerous Inserm/Université Côte d’Azur mixed units in the Côte d’Azur region. It paves the way for new scientific synergies and innovative projects led in particular by young researchers, helping to make the Côte d’Azur site a major hub for health research.
This event is part of the series of agreements signed by Université Côte d’Azur with major research organisations, confirming Université Côte d’Azur’s commitment to co-constructing an innovation ecosystem with its partners.
