The Association of Veterinary Consultants (AVC), recognised by the EMA, EFSA and the European Commission, held its 30th General Assembly in October 2025 in Bordeaux, in the historic setting of Hotel La Zoologie. Twenty-four members from 12 countries took part, reflecting the growing international reach of this European network.

Founded 30 years ago, AVC brings together veterinary consultants active in key areas such as clinical trials, regulatory affairs, toxicology, nutrition, communication and go-to-market strategy. Over the years, the association has established itself as a trusted reference for European and global authorities, including the EMA and EFSA, contributing to working groups on emerging risks, the impact of AI, and veterinary medicines regulation.
The 2025 edition featured high-level scientific presentations, including a talk by Dr Luca Zilberstein (CAP Douleur) on pain assessment in companion and farm animals, and a presentation by Professor Andy Peters on veterinary projects in Africa supported by the Gates Foundation.
Nice Côte d’Azur, which hosted AVC’s 10th anniversary celebrations in 2023, remains a key territory for the association. Three members, including Dr Rimma Ishimbaeva and Nadège Savelli, are based in the region. President of AVC from 2023 to 2025, Dr Ishimbaeva led a significant phase of expansion. Re-elected this year as Senior Vice-President, she continues this strategic commitment from the Côte d’Azur.
Consultants based in Nice support the pharmaceutical industry in the development and registration of veterinary medicinal products. Their expertise strengthens the Côte d’Azur’s position as an innovation hub in animal and public health, at the intersection of regulatory, scientific and industrial challenges.
