A recognition from the Canadian government

The Government of Canada has appointed Stefano Cimmarusti as the first member of Canada’s Global Executives in France, specifically in the south of the country.

This recognition, awarded by the Trade Commissioner Service of the Embassy of Canada in France, in Paris, acknowledges his binational career, international expertise, and active commitment to strengthening economic relations between Canada and France.

An official ceremony in Paris

The official ceremony took place on July 3 at the Embassy of Canada in France, in Paris, and was presided over by Stéphane Dion, Ambassador of Canada to France and Monaco and Special Envoy to the European Union and Europe.

A binational actor serving economic ecosystems

A Canadian citizen based in Nice and Head of Project Development at Team Nice Côte d’Azur, Stefano Cimmarusti represents a bridge between the two countries. With strong professional experience in both Canada and France, he has built tangible connections between the economic ecosystems on both sides of the Atlantic.

The role of Team Nice Côte d’Azur

This appointment also reflects the ongoing efforts of Team Nice Côte d’Azur to strengthen the region’s international economic partnerships and its ambition to deepen ties between Canada and the Côte d’Azur.

A high-impact volunteer mission

Canada’s Global Executives serve on a voluntary basis alongside their professional activities. In this role, Stefano Cimmarusti will act as a strategic advisor and mentor for Canadian companies seeking to establish or expand in France.

For businesses in southern France, he will also serve as a gateway to the Canadian market, leveraging his network, market knowledge, and intercultural experience to actively support the success of Franco-Canadian initiatives.

A shared vision between two territories

“It is an honour to be recognized by the Government of Canada and to represent the values of openness, innovation, and responsibility shared by Canada and southern France. I am convinced that strong synergies can be deepened and developed between our two territories,” said Stefano Cimmarusti.

Expanding cooperation

This appointment also illustrates the growing importance of economic cooperation between Canada and southern France—an increasingly strategic axis driven by a growing number of public and private initiatives.
