Innovative City,<\/strong>\u00a0the largest international gathering dedicated to the Smart City came back to the C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur for its 5th edition, June 16-17 in Nice. During\u00a02 days of intense networking and conferences, foreign professionals and institutions could gather inspiration and insights on Foreign Direct Investment in the Cleantech and Smart City industries\u00a0on the C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur.<\/p>\n

The 2016 version of Innovative City<\/strong>\u00a0brought together\u00a03372<\/strong>\u00a0professionals,\u00a0192<\/strong>\u00a0speakers,\u00a0108<\/strong>\u00a0exhibitors and welcomed\u00a03<\/strong>\u00a0foreign delegations accompanied by Team C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur. It also reinforced its image as an international conference by welcoming, for the first time, a group of Israeli startups in a platform dedicated to\u00a0Israeli Cleantech<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Team C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur played a role in the internationalisation of this event by accompanying\u00a0delegations of companies and institutions\u00a0<\/strong>from\u00a0Israel<\/strong>,\u00a0the United States<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Luxembourg<\/strong>\u00a0to the conference. Team C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur also presented the Azurian\u00a0cleantech<\/strong>\u00a0ecosystem and R&D network through site visits and business meetings.<\/p>\n

This gave the opportunity for the delegations to discover\u00a0the Sophia Antipolis Science and Business park<\/strong>\u00a0as well as a development project called\u00a0Eco Vall\u00e9e<\/strong>\u00a0which helped make\u00a0Nice<\/strong> the 4th Smart City in the world.<\/p>\n

The Israeli delegation was able to visit\u00a0the Nice Grid quarter<\/strong>\u00a0where industrial companies and startups collaborate and innovate smart management of electric networks. They also visited\u00a0the Smart City Innovation Center<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0the Mediterranean Institute for Risk, Environment and Sustainable Development\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0(IMREDD)<\/strong>, the center where technological solutions for smart cities are tested. A VIP reception dedicated to the delegation and supported by Team C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur brought them into contact with about 40 Azurian companies and startups.<\/p>\n

The Luxembourg delegation, led by\u00a0S.E.M. the Luxembourg Ambassador<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0the Luxembourg Consulate in France<\/strong>\u00a0returned to visit the\u00a0Sophia Antipolis Science and Business Park<\/strong>\u00a0and was able to discover the activity of Mines Paristech based on\u00a0renewable energies<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0giving forms to materials<\/strong>. The Luxembourg delegation proceeded to meet with\u00a0the ACRI company<\/strong>\u00a0that works in applied mechanics and environmental science and works on projects connected to the layout of the region and the environment and natural risks and just recently opened a branch in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg focusing on satellite applications. The 7 companies from Luxembourg present were also able to identify\u00a0projects to expand<\/strong>\u00a0into the C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur.<\/p>\n

40 Azurian companies<\/strong>\u00a0played a role in welcoming the Utah delegation which included\u00a0Franz Kolb<\/strong>, the Regional Director for International Trade and Diplomacy in the State of Utah Governor\u2019s Office of Economic Development, Dr. Laura Nelson, Executive Director of the Office of Energy Development and\u00a0Derek Miller<\/strong>, President and CEO of World Trade Center Utah, as well as company CEOs. Team C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur was able to arrange B2B meetings between Utahn and Azurian entrepreneurs, as well as other meetings, and other presentations outside of Innovative City. As a result of this visit,\u00a0a collaboration between a French Tech C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur startup and Salt Lake City<\/strong>\u00a0is being discussed, the startup wishing to experiment is energy management solutions in a municipal infrastructure.<\/p>\n

The 2016 edition of Innovative City can also pride itself as laying the foundation for strategic partnerships between the C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur and its international partners and confirming its status as\u00a0the leading Smart City Conference<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
