Villages Where Life is Good<\/a>, published on February 16 in the Journal du Dimanche.<\/li><li>The city also maintains its 13th place nationally in the overall ranking of French municipalities.<\/li><li>Nice is additionally ranked the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.investincotedazur.com\/en\/nice-ranks-first-among-the-greenest-cities-in-france\/\"> greenest city in France by the Kermap study<\/a>, with 33% green coverage and 53 m\u00b2 of green spaces per inhabitant.<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2>A ranking reflecting urban dynamics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The 2025 ranking of cities and villages where life is good, published by the \u201cCities and Villages Where Life is Good\u201d association and highlighted by the Journal du Dimanche on February 16, once again places Nice as the top major French metropolis with over 300,000 inhabitants in terms of quality of life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The city also maintains its 13th place nationally and ranks 6th among cities with over 100,000 inhabitants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Nice (6th among cities with over 100,000 inhabitants) leads ahead of Montpellier (13th), Nantes (21st), Toulouse (23rd), Lyon (24th), Paris (27th), and Marseille (32nd), confirming its attractiveness among major French metropolitan areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2>A rigorous and updated methodology<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The association\u2019s ranking is based on an analysis of 34,795 French municipalities, evaluated against 190 criteria grouped into 11 categories such as quality of life, health, transport, and environmental protection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The 2025 edition includes three new environmental criteria: seismic risk, flood risk, and frequency of natural disasters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2>Nice, Green City of the Mediterranean<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Since 2008, Nice has pursued an ambitious environmental policy aiming to become the \u201cgreen and blue city of the Mediterranean.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">With initiatives such as creating an additional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investincotedazur.com\/nice-nouveaux-espaces-verts\/\">70 hectares of green spaces<\/a>, greening schoolyards, and promoting urban agriculture, Nice boasts 33% green coverage, the highest among major French cities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.investincotedazur.com\/nice-inauguration-esplanade-de-lattre-de-tassigny\/\">The \u201c1 tree, 1 inhabitant\u201d program<\/a> plans to plant 280,000 trees by 2026, enhancing the city\u2019s green heritage and contributing to climate change mitigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2>Structuring projects for the future<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Nice continues its transformation with large-scale projects. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investincotedazur.com\/parc-meridia-ville-durable\/\">The Parc M\u00e9ridia eco-district, winner of the \u201cSustainable City Demonstrators\u201d program<\/a>, will include 5,000 housing units, a 20-hectare landscaped park, and infrastructure focused on the circular economy and urban agriculture. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.investincotedazur.com\/parc-parking-vauban-nice\/\">The Vauban parking facility, with 500 spaces, will feature a 4,000 m\u00b2 urban park, photovoltaic panels, and a rainwater recovery system.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In 2025, the city will also host the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investincotedazur.com\/biennale-arts-ocean-nice-2025\/\">Biennale of Arts and the Ocean<\/a> alongside the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.investincotedazur.com\/en\/nice-will-host-the-united-nations-conference-on-oceans-in-2025\/\"> 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC-3)<\/a>, enhancing its cultural and environmental influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2>Attractiveness confirmed by figures<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Nice shows notable demographic growth, with 356,603 inhabitants in 2022,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.investincotedazur.com\/en\/nices-attractiveness-confirmed-by-a-significant-increase-in-population\/\"> an increase of nearly 4% over six years<\/a>.
