On Saturday, September 27, 2025, in Velenje, Slovenia, the City of Nice received the gold medal at the Entente Florale Europe competition, which highlights policies of urban greening and renaturation. The jury also awarded a special prize to the Promenade du Paillon (phases 1 and 2) for its role in revitalization, as well as to the “façade-to-façade” approach that strengthens urban cohesion between the city’s historic and contemporary neighborhoods.
Meanwhile, Nantes, the other French city competing in this edition, earned the silver medal.
Founded in 1975, this international horticultural competition now includes 11 European countries. Entente Florale Europe showcases towns and villages for the excellence of their floral displays, while taking into account broader aspects such as environmental quality, sustainable development and climate change mitigation, landscape richness and management, tourism enhancement through planting, and community involvement.
