Since 1 November 2025, 3IA Côte d’Azur has had new leadership: Diana Sebbar succeeds Charles Bouveyron, and Serena Villata succeeds Nicholas Ayache.
The 3IA Côte d’Azur Institute, led by Université Côte d’Azur, is dedicated to applications of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly in the fields of health and smart, secure territories.
It is one of the four Interdisciplinary Institutes of Artificial Intelligence labelled in 2019 as part of the national AI plan.
Coordinated by Université Côte d’Azur alongside CNRS, Inria, Inserm and EURECOM, it brings together companies, research organisations and public stakeholders.
Diana Sebbar (on the right in the photo) is a research engineer at Université Côte d’Azur. Executive Director of the Initiative of Excellence (IDEX) and Major Projects, she has held the position of Executive Director of the 3IA Côte d’Azur Institute since 2019 and of the French AI school “EFELIA Côte d’Azur” since 2022.
Serena Villata (on the left in the photo) is a Director of Research at CNRS Côte d’Azur, head of the MARIANNE research team at the Inria Centre of Université Côte d’Azur. She has held a 3IA Chair since 2019, has been Deputy Scientific Director of the Institute since 2021, and has been, since September 2025, a member of the Council for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technology, as well as of the National Consultative Committee on Digital Ethics.
This experienced governance strengthens the link between scientific excellence, innovation and territorial structuring, in the wake of the award of the AI-Cluster label.
