A cluster measuring and structuring the HealthTech industry in Southern France
Eurobiomed, the reference cluster for innovation and industrialisation of HealthTech companies in Southern France, releases its first-half 2026 review and provides an overview of the industry’s dynamics in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and Occitanie regions.
Over the first six months of the year, Eurobiomed members mobilised €228.8 million in private funding, in addition to €18.8 million in public funding, for a total of €247.6 million. A volume that reflects Southern France’s ability to spin out and finance innovative companies, in an environment where industry players are expected to demonstrate the strength of their clinical, regulatory, industrial and commercial project earlier in their development.
An accelerator role at every stage of company development
Eurobiomed’s role plays out through intervention at every decisive stage in a company’s development: project structuring, access to scientific and clinical expertise, funding, industrial partnerships and market access preparation. In H1 2026, this translated into 49 R&D projects reviewed or supported, 66 individual company support engagements, 118 qualified matchmaking introductions and 312 member participations in ecosystem events and gatherings.
“The first half of 2026 reveals a profound evolution of the market: private capital is still available, and it concentrates on projects able to quickly demonstrate their clinical, industrial and economic value, meaning more mature companies. As for public support, the current reshaping of innovation-support policies and of the France 2030 investment plan is making public funding scarcer and more selective. In this context, Eurobiomed’s role is both to produce a consolidated reading of the industry’s dynamics and to help companies through every stage of their development, from scientific structuring through to fundraising, industrialisation and market access. The record number of companies supported by Eurobiomed through our Go4Bio and Invest In Biomed programmes in H1 shows the relevance of a support model combining expertise, understanding of the value chains and qualified matchmaking,” says Émilie Royère, CEO of Eurobiomed.
Structuring deals that illustrate the maturity of the industry
Several transactions during the semester illustrate the appeal of innovations developed in Southern France and their recognition by major industry players, including the largest fundraising round recorded on the territory in H1 by Sensorion (€60 M), MedinCell’s round (€48 M) and the agreement signed by Vect-Horus with Servier around an exclusive licence option in the treatment of rare diseases of the central nervous system. The semester was also marked by several consolidation moves, with the merger of Kyomed Innov and CEISO and the acquisition of Stem Genomics by Clean Cells. These operations reflect the gradual structuring of value chains capable of taking health innovations through to industrialisation and market access.
Invest In Biomed: preparing companies for evolving investor expectations
In a market that has become more demanding, Eurobiomed has pursued the roll-out of Invest In Biomed, its programme dedicated to fundraising preparation. In H1 2026, the programme supported 11 companies with the backing of 18 specialised experts, mobilised 30 investors and organised more than 75 B2B meetings. Beyond matchmaking, companies benefit from in-depth work on their positioning, value proposition, funding strategy and ability to meet investor expectations.
A new priority is now emerging for Eurobiomed: turning the funding dynamic observed on the territory into sustainable industrial and commercial trajectories, while helping companies diversify their funding sources in a context of progressively scarcer public funding channels.
A cluster present in Nice and embedded in Southern France’s leading health hubs
Eurobiomed brings together nearly 400 members (innovative companies, research laboratories, university hospitals, clinical, industrial and institutional stakeholders) in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and Occitanie regions, and operates from Marseille, Nice, Montpellier and Toulouse. Its presence in Nice positions it as one of the structuring relays of the French Riviera health industry, alongside Nice University Hospital (CHU), Université Côte d’Azur, 3IA Côte d’Azur, IMREDD and the Provence Côte d’Azur Business Incubator, and in connection with flagship projects such as RespirERA, ReBone and the future Skin Institute.
