On November 4, 2025, Team Nice Côte d’Azur hosted the third edition of the LifeSciences Afterwork at its headquarters — a now-regular event that strengthens synergies within the HealthTech ecosystem across the Nice Côte d’Azur region.
Building lasting connections among healthcare stakeholders
Launched in July 2025 with the support of Amir Messaoudi from Medpack Inter, the French subsidiary of the Tunisian group Medpack specializing in pharmaceutical packaging, the company was supported by Team Nice Côte d’Azur from the very beginning of its establishment process.
This series of events aims to foster lasting connections among startups, researchers, institutions, investors, and support organizations within the local healthcare ecosystem. Led by Team Nice Côte d’Azur, with the commitment of Sana Bouyahia, Head of Project Development Health and Sports, this informal format facilitates the emergence of concrete and cross-sector synergies between newcomers and established players.
The third edition, held on November 4, 2025, confirmed the relevance of this approach: once again, the discussions helped strengthen an active and engaged network around key issues in healthcare innovation.
Showcasing emerging local expertise
During the various editions, several young companies were invited to present their projects in a short format, showcasing the richness of the local innovation landscape: smart medical devices, biotechnologies, AI-driven health platforms, clinical research, and more.
The combined presence of researchers, clinicians, industry professionals, institutional representatives, and investors enabled direct, meaningful exchanges that fostered high-potential collaborations.
A continuously evolving HealthTech ecosystem
The Côte d’Azur region benefits from a strong scientific and technological foundation:
- The Nice University Hospital (CHU) and Université Côte d’Azur are leading major initiatives such as the IHU RespirERA, dedicated to chronic respiratory diseases.
- The Skin Institute, dedicated to digital dermatology, and the 3IA Côte d’Azur (AI applied to healthcare) confirm the region’s strong positioning in personalized medicine and translational research.
- Projects such as Dimicare (targeted antibiotics, a spin-off from INSERM – CNRS – UniCA), Nucleate France UniCA (academic entrepreneurship), and ARROW illustrate the region’s ability to translate fundamental research into clinical innovation.
- Local startups such as Algenscribe, Roca Therapeutics, Klava Innovation, and ExAdEx-Innov demonstrate a strong entrepreneurial momentum.
- In June 2025, Nice-based company Caranx Medical received FDA clearance for an AI software used in cardiac surgery, illustrating the region’s excellence in medical robotics and digital health.
Team Nice Côte d’Azur: an operational facilitator
At the heart of this momentum, Team Nice Côte d’Azur plays a strategic role as a connector and operational facilitator, supporting both:
- The establishment of new industrial players such as Medpackinter and Circum Medtech Pharma,
- The development of collaborative projects among local organizations,
- And the promotion of healthcare innovation at the regional, national, and international levels.
A community in the making
Each edition of the afterwork helps strengthen both personal and professional ties among life sciences stakeholders in the region. To extend these exchanges, a WhatsApp group is now open to all industry professionals who wish to join this dynamic community.
