"The Côte d’Azur is undoubtedly the most attractive inward investment destination in France. The factors that carried the most weight with OTOlogics when reaching its decision were the proximity to an inexhaustible pool of competencies, and the presence of two major competitive clusters. CSR
JAMES COLLIER, CTO and Co-founder
The leading provider of Bluetooth, opened its R&D design centre in Sophia Antipolis, France in August 2005 with only 2 employees. Today there are 17 employees in France and the company is continuing to grow rapidly. Sophia Antipolis was chosen due to its highly skilled workforce, attracted by the area’s concentration of advanced technology companies and because it is a nice place for the engineers to work and live in, it is easier to attract and retain them.
ICERA
STAN BOLAND, President and CEO
The main asset of the region for ICERA is the ability to rapidly assemble and grow a highly expert team in cellular communications software. This has its origins in the quality and specializations of French universities and in the strong background in France in wireless communications in general. Sophia Antipolis was especially attractive to us due to the existing cluster, the ease of hiring for this region and its good communications. The Sophia Antipolis facility is our second largest globally. It has a clear responsibility for specific layers of the communications software and also leads our Customer Engineering and Validation responsibilities. These represent the fastest growing pieces of ICERA’s business and we confidently predict that we will employ over 100 staff in Sophia Antipolis before the end of the year.
