Medical Technologies

On the Côte d’Azur, a region driven by R&D and innovation, the convergence of technologies and the emergence of new applications and usages in healthcare are favoured more than anywhere else.

AN INNOVATIVE ECO-SYSTEM

CLUSTERS, NETWORKS, LOCAL INITIATIVES

             - Medical devices, biomarkers and diagnostic

             - Treatment and care of ageing, neurological diseases and handicap

             - One of Eurobiomed’s main missions is to stimulate the implementation and

               funding of collaborative R&D projects.

  • The SCS cluster (Secured Communicating Solutions) aims at developing key technologies (microelectronics, telecom, softwares, RFID, etc.) and new applications and usages, like healthcare.

  • Nice University Hospital is a key element for innovative solutions to be carried out mostly in:Traceability, Gerontology, E-health.

  • The National Reference Centre – Healthcare (CNR-Santé) located in Nice is the result of a governmental will to address the development and application of solutions in Home Health Care. Between 2010 and 2015, The CNR-Santé will focus on:

             - favouring the emergence of new models and related innovative solutions, mostly by the development of the use of ICT in healthcare

             - increasing the sector competitiveness

             - improving the quality of life of patients and citizens

  • The Centre of Innovation and Usage in Healthcare (CIU Santé) created by the SCS Cluster is structuring 3 technical platforms in hospital environment: Partnership, Patient and Home. This centre is a tool for innovation, demonstration, labelling and promotion of IT solutions in healthcare. It will act as an expert centre for the CNR-Santé in home health care.

  • Institut Claude Pompidou in Nice: Concrete and innovative responses to Alzheimer’s disease.

  • INRIA: the National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control has several research teams working on computational biology and neurosciences / computational biology and bioinformatics.

FIRST CLASS RECRUITMENT FOR YOUR BUSINESS

The Côte d’Azur attracts youthful, skilled and mobile talents.   The « e-DRH » initiative federates human resources departments across Sophia Antipolis to provide a « human resources » services and tools offer accessible in the following areas: training, international mobility, and HR tools.

In addition, the Côte d’Azur is a breeding ground for 36,000 students among of which 2,600 medical students and 3,400 students in science.

AREAS OF OUTSTANDING  INNOVATION AND EXPERIMENTATION :

  • MISTRAL project (labeled by SCS Cluster) - RFID technology at the heart of traceability

The project is developing an integrated RFID solution securing the logistics, circulation and usage of medicine and sterile medical device. Intelligent labels applied to objects allow them to communicate.

The solution can be developed in Biobanks for the monitoring of biological samples following recent regulations, but also in hospitals for the optimisation of the patient’s care. Finally, applied to pharmaceutical products, the objective is to create an «electronic pedigree», to limit counterfeit.

Led by IBM and STMicroelectronics, the project has reunited 4 local SMEs in health and IT, research and academic actors (among which Nice University Hospital).

  • GERHOME (project also labeled by SCS Cluster)

Digital services enhancing independence of the elderly at home by using Intelligent technologies for house automations to ensure autonomy, comfort of life, security, monitoring and assistance to the place of residents (trying to make technology invisible).

Partners: CSTB (Scientific and Technical center for Construction),Nice Hospital, INRIA, University of Nice, local and regional governmental bodies…

They chose the Côte d'Azur

"Sophia-Antipolis is a very attractive region for any semiconductor company, for several reasons. The first one is that in the technology park of Sophia-Antipolis there is a solid tradition of analog and digital design, which is due to the presence of other big companies working in the same or similar markets, like Texas Instruments, Intel, STM and others. The second reason is linked to presence in the technology park of the Polytech'Nice-Sophia and other important schools.

That will guarantee our future growth since the region will always offer both experienced design engineers and you talents to hire."
