Sophia Antipolis: Tellus welcomes Newfund as an investor

Tellus enables anyone with family or friends living in developing countries to transfer mobile phone credit

Under the brand name Joxko  (www.joxko.com), Tellus enables anyone with family or friends living in developing countries to transfer mobile phone credit.
This service is currently available in 11 African countries.
Tellus' original approach of substituting phone credit for money, enables it to offer low-cost services, which are particularly competitive on small transactions.
Indeed, the Joxko offer can be used to transfer small amounts (often less than €10) at a reasonable cost to the user, where large money transfer networks invoice a minimum of €8 for any transaction under €50. The offer is all the more relevant since the populations concerned are often more likely to have a telephone than a bank account. In Sub-Saharan Africa, the penetration rate for mobile phones is around 33% compared with a rate of under 10% for banking services.
With the capital raised from Newfund, Tellus wants to increase its international presence in both originator (particularly Italy and Spain) and receiver countries, by strengthening the African and north African corridor and opening up the Asian and South American corridors.

They chose the Côte d'Azur

"Sophia-Antipolis is a very attractive region for any semiconductor company, for several reasons. The first one is that in the technology park of Sophia-Antipolis there is a solid tradition of analog and digital design, which is due to the presence of other big companies working in the same or similar markets, like Texas Instruments, Intel, STM and others. The second reason is linked to presence in the technology park of the Polytech'Nice-Sophia and other important schools.

That will guarantee our future growth since the region will always offer both experienced design engineers and you talents to hire."
