Nice: Les Satellites - A new space dedicated to telecommuting and coworking

3 questions to Nicolas Bergé, founder of "Les Satellites" which opened on 18th November 2011 in Nice

Since 18th November, the Côte d’Azur has had a new telecommuting solution. Nicolas Bergé, a young entrepreneur, has just launched the project that he has been developing for several months with the opening of the new "Les Satellites" space in Nice, at 12 Boulevard de l'Armée des Alpes, close to Nice Riquier station and on tram line 1,

Can you tell us about your company?

I offer telecommuting and coworking solutions which form an innovative structure for the world of work.  Thanks to new technologies, people can now perform all or part of their activities outside the traditional office environment.

Our offer targets employees, freelance workers and students by providing them with flexible working spaces allowing them to reduce their commuting time between home and work.

Companies may also be interested in order to optimise the occupation of their offices, by offering a nearby working space which retains the social aspect of work. The important thing is not where you work, but the people you work with.

Where did this idea come from?

I imported the concept from Silicon Valley where there are coworking areas not solely reserved for computer specialists. Today, any of a company's functions can adopt this flexible way of working using just a laptop and an internet connection. The "Les Satellites" project therefore developed during my studies and is realised today with the opening of this first telecommuting and coworking space in Nice.

How does it work?

Each member can book a workstation or meeting room using our website.  We can accommodate up to 25 people at the same time in a 140m² area.  We offer three packages which target companies and employees, freelancers and entrepreneurs and finally, students. Our student package is €25 per month excluding taxes, our flexible package starts at €99/month (excl. tax.) and our professional solution which allows continual access 7 days a week 24 hours a day is €399 (excl. tax.).

They chose the Côte d'Azur

"Sophia-Antipolis is a very attractive region for any semiconductor company, for several reasons. The first one is that in the technology park of Sophia-Antipolis there is a solid tradition of analog and digital design, which is due to the presence of other big companies working in the same or similar markets, like Texas Instruments, Intel, STM and others. The second reason is linked to presence in the technology park of the Polytech'Nice-Sophia and other important schools.

That will guarantee our future growth since the region will always offer both experienced design engineers and you talents to hire."
