Côte d'Azur to Paris in 3h50 with high-speed TGV train

Paris-Nice TGV
The route for the future PACA TGV will pass through both Marseille and Toulon before terminating at Nice.

France’s Minister of Ecology, Jean-Louis Borloo, revealed the long-awaited high-speed TGV train route to link Paris and Nice on Monday, 28 June, which will pass through both Marseille and Toulon. The new line, which will be built at an estimated cost of €15 billion, will slash the time taken to travel between Paris to Nice to 3h50 from the 5h25 it takes today.

The other more Northern-route was not selected, despite being €8 billion cheaper and 10-minutes faster, as it would have had to go round the famous montagne Sainte-Victoire, close to Aix-en-Provence, and would have bypassed both Marseille and Toulon.

Work on the new line will take from now until 2020, and it is expected to start operation in 2024 or 2025.
