Guillaume DRIN awarded the CNRS Bronze Medal

The biophysicist Guillaume DRIN is a member of the dynamics of lipid membranes and protein coats team at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology

This 37-year old researcher studies proteins which, through their ability to recognise the shape or composition of cellular membranes, regulate key stages in intracellular traffic or the transport of lipids.

In doing so, Guillaume Drin pieces together the activity of these proteins in vitro using artificial membranes in order to understand their mechanisms through real-time measurements.

The biophysicist Guillaume DRIN is a member of the dynamics of lipid membranes and protein coats team at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology (UMR, CNRS - Nice Sophia Antipolis University).

The CNRS Bronze Medal recognizes a researcher's first work, which makes that person a specialist with a talent in a particular field. This award is a way for the CNRS to encourage the researcher to continue work that has met with initial success and already produced promising results.

The CNRS Bronze Medal will be awarded to Guillaume DRIN, CNRS Research Manager and Member of the "dynamics of lipid membranes and protein coats" team at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology, on Thursday 19th January 2012 at 11.00am.

They chose the Côte d'Azur

"Sophia-Antipolis is a very attractive region for any semiconductor company, for several reasons. The first one is that in the technology park of Sophia-Antipolis there is a solid tradition of analog and digital design, which is due to the presence of other big companies working in the same or similar markets, like Texas Instruments, Intel, STM and others. The second reason is linked to presence in the technology park of the Polytech'Nice-Sophia and other important schools.

That will guarantee our future growth since the region will always offer both experienced design engineers and you talents to hire."
