Since their creation in 2003, Ineldea Laboratories has specialised in dietary supplements and cosmetics. After spending 7 years in Cannes, where they began their business, they have just moved to a new building measuring over 2000 m2 in Carros.

Interview with Nicolas Cappelaere (NC), President

Investincotedazur.com (ICA): Can you tell us about Ineldea? What is your company’s philosophy?

NC: Our laboratories specialise in formulating, manufacturing and distributing innovative natural products including dietary supplements, organic and environmentally friendly products, cosmetics and personal hygiene products but also professional skincare.

Since INELDEA’s creation we have taken an interest in highly targeted consumer groups, which explains the diversity of our product portfolio. (See product ranges at the end of the article). The nutritional supplements and natural cosmetics that we develop bring together the best natural active ingredients, skilfully blended for their synergetic effects.

They are aimed at all those who want to protect and strengthen their health and beauty on a daily basis, to ensure the body's optimum performance. Quality is highly important to us, that is why we quickly began a certification approach and our laboratories are ISO 9001, Ecocert and Cosmebio certified.

ICA: What is unique about your offer?

NC: Firstly, our portfolio of over 150 products and a rate of 30 to 35 innovations a year has enabled us to earn the trust of both health professionals and consumers through the consistency and quality of the products we offer.

It is not enough to focus on nutrients or substances to take advantage of their benefits, we also select the most bioavailable* (*easily assimilated by the body) types and combinations of active ingredients, in nutritional doses for maximum absorption and an effective action. As we do not have the resources for advertising to market our products, we have focused on the consumer’s ability to talk favourably about our products when he himself is satisfied with them. This is why we have a dual technical and scientific approach to developing our products, selection of the galenic formulation, choice of ingredients, identification of the synergies between ingredients, etc. Secondly, it is the diversity of our distribution networks. We are trusted by many professionals who use and recommend our products, including doctors, pharmacists, dieticians, sports kinesiologists, coaches, beauty therapists, etc. Depending on the ranges, we are present in pharmacies, parapharmacies, health food and specialist stores, sports shops, gyms, kinesiologists, beauty institutes, e-commerce.

ICA: You left Cannes to move to Carros, why?

NC: Our growth had already forced us to divide our teams into different offices, including our logistics department that we moved 5 times between 2003 and 2010, which was not very practical in terms of management. We sought a location that would allow us to bring all the teams together in one place with an emphasis on optimising travel times and ease of access since most of our employees live in Nice, St Laurent du Var and Cagnes sur Mer. The Carros Industrial Park seemed to us to be the ideal choice regardless of the Plaine du Var development projects which will help the companies based there, particularly in terms of recruitment.

We are now based in a building of over 2000 m2 with completely new offices which have been well-designed (light, quiet working area, etc.). Indeed, we believe that the well-being of our employees is a factor in economic performance and our new premises are perfectly in keeping with our management view.

ICA: What are your growth prospects?

NC: Our company, created in 2003 employs over 60 people and has a turnover of 14.8 million euros. It is part of the dynamic dietary and food supplements sector which, in one generation has created 15,000 jobs in France representing a little over 1 billion euros, by specifically meeting our citizens’ new expectations in terms of nutrition and well-being. We are convinced of the potential for growth in our sector, both in France and through exports. With this investment, we have an efficient working tool which should enable us to satisfy our requirements regarding the growth targets that we have set ourselves. In 2010, approximately 20% of our TO came from exports, mainly in the European area up to Russia, but also in Turkey, Lebanon, Morocco, Indonesia, Vietnam, Canada… We will continue to work on our organic growth by strengthening our sales teams, knowing that exports are key to accelerating growth in companies and consequently a source for boosting job creation.

Ineldea’s 6 main ranges:

They chose the Côte d'Azur

"Sophia-Antipolis is a very attractive region for any semiconductor company, for several reasons. The first one is that in the technology park of Sophia-Antipolis there is a solid tradition of analog and digital design, which is due to the presence of other big companies working in the same or similar markets, like Texas Instruments, Intel, STM and others. The second reason is linked to presence in the technology park of the Polytech'Nice-Sophia and other important schools.

That will guarantee our future growth since the region will always offer both experienced design engineers and you talents to hire."
