Under the terms of the Opération d’Intérêt National (OIN), the development of the Eco Vallée on the outskirts of Nice, will be an outstanding example of sustainable development.

One of showcase projects is Nice Méridia, the first district to be conceived entirely on ecological premises, combining businesses, housing and commercial areas. Spread over a 22 hectares plot of land, it is situate just
500 meters from the international Nice-Côte d’Azur airport.

The 10,000m² Premium office complex constitutes the first major construction program in the district. This exceptional eco-friendly project, which has been designed by architects Reichen & Robert, aims to keep the building’s running costs to the minimum whilst also limiting its impact on the human and natural environment. The key to achieving this will be solar panels, which will cover the roof of the building and supply hot water as well as producing electricity, which will be sold to the French electricity firm EDF. Work has already started on the program, which is scheduled for completion in June 2010.

In addition to the Nice Méridia district, the OIN includes several other sites: l'Arenas, Nice la Plaine, le PAL and Nice Lingostière. As such, the companies moving into these sites benefit from advantages and/or subsidies awarded under the OIN program.
